The Decatur Poker League is in it's third season since starting in 2008. There have been many great hands played in the three season history, but the league has never seen a royal flush. All of that changed during game one of the July session, of the 2010 season at David Kates' house.
The dealer button belong to 2010 DPL points leader, Chad Haynes. As the pre-flop action came around to myself, I peeked down at

and decided to rasie the action to $1,200. As action folded around to the blinds, I received a call from both of them. The flop came out,

. This gave me the nut flush. The small blind checked, the big blind checked, and I checked. The turn brought

and was hoping that one of the blinds would bet. The small blind checked, the big blind bet $6,000, I called and the small blind decided to fold. At this point, I'm not worried about too many cards, but I would like something that helps my opponent, just not a full house. The river brought

and giving me the first royal flush in DPL histroy. The big blind bets $12,000 and I re-raise all-in for another $18,000. The big blind makes the call with a smaller flush, and was eliminated early.
I hope to see more royal flushes in DPL's future, but only time will tell.
