The first
game of the October 2009 session had 8 players in attendance. With the smallest field of the season, the final table was set as soon as the game started. Action was pretty good during game one as Keith and Phillip had to put the pedal to the metal to catch Chad in the standings. Keith was able to take out myself after heads up play. Keith had the chip lead going into heads up play mostly due to a all-in duel against point leader Chad. Chad got all his chips in with against Keith who held . Bob Burtschi was in the same hand with , Keith was down to a one outer, he needed the last remaining to hit. The odds were not on Keith’s side, well until the flop hit and land the case , and knocking out the point leader.
The second
game of the October 2009 session had 9 players in attendance,
Joel Willis became the newest member of the DPL. Since the first
game ran smoother and faster, the blinds were left at 15 minutes
for the 2nd game. It seemed that most players were not getting
much to play with during the second game. The theme of the day
must have been something dealing with Horseshoes. I say this because
Keith was catching cards as if he was holding a lucky horseshoe
and the winner of the 2nd game of the day went to Steve Larry,
who was wearing a Horsehoe (Casino) hat when he won.
Steve played a great, "force
your apponent to make a decision" style game. Steve was heads
up against new DPL member Joel Willis. Joel had a large chips stack
against that of Steve, but Steve was able to force the action
and get Joel to lay down a lot of hands. The final hand Joel made
a play to take down the pot pre-flop with suited , and when
Steve pushed all-in, Joel felt he had enough of the ongoing battle
and gambled. Steve turned over and caught a on the river
to win the game. I will say that the Steve and Joel match went
on for a good 20 plus minutes. Good play to both of them. |
